YOUTH

Our future. Our youth.

Raising the
next generation.

Our children are at the heart of our community. Through weekly children’s services, Barmi and Bati programmes for Bnei Mitzvah, and our Ima & Me mothers and toddlers group, we create meaningful spaces for connection, learning, and joy. Special holiday activities bring Yom Tov to life, while our post–Barmi and Bati teen programmes ensure continued growth and engagement. Each stage is thoughtfully nurtured, helping our children build a strong, proud, and lasting connection to Jewish life and community.

Children’s Services

Come and enjoy our services knowing your children are well cared for. Our dedicated team of Maddies looks after the Marais Road kids, creating a safe, fun, and nurturing environment where children can learn and feel at home. Children’s services run every Friday night, Saturday morning, and on all festivals, with age-appropriate activities and engaging programs. Times may vary, so be sure to check the schedule for the latest updates and details.

Meet our Maddies.

Barmi Club

A Bar Mitzvah is one of life’s big milestones! At Marais Road Shul, we provide a fun-filled and meaningful framework to prepare our boys for their big day and beyond. As they begin their journey into Jewish adulthood, we guide them and equip them with the tools to participate in and integrate into the community, enabling them to continue developing their own Yiddishkeit.

The Barmi Club is our exciting learning and experiential programme for boys and dads celebrating their Bar Mitzvah at Marais Road Shul. It includes everything from laying tefillin to exploring community responsibility. The programme offers hands-on experiences with a variety of communal organisations, ranging from chesed initiatives to areas of religious practice. Each Barmi boy also has private sessions with Rabbi Hecht in the weeks leading up to his Bar Mitzvah.

Bati Club

Our Bat Mitzvah Club offers a meaningful and engaging journey as girls explore inspiring women in the Torah and the lessons they bring to our lives. Through interactive learning, hands-on activities, and creative experiences, each session is both enriching and enjoyable, with highlights including challah bakes, flower arranging, a CSO self-defence workshop, and guest speakers.

Girls are also encouraged to celebrate their Bat Mitzvah in a way that is meaningful to them. Rebbetzin Chani is happy to guide each family in choosing the right option, whether a candle-lighting ceremony, a Shabbat day Dvar Torah, or a Havdalah ceremony.

The programme culminates in our annual Bnot Mitzvah Ceremony, a joyful celebration where family and friends gather to mark the girls’ growth and learning.
